I just wanted to say that Macbeth, in my opinion, was not a "good man" who was pushed into something because he loved his wife so much, if that is all he was then the character of Macbeth is not worth discussing. Macbeth had thoughts that made his hair stand on end (ie killing duncan) long before talking to her, and his "vaulting ambition" was really what made him kill duncan. He is not a completely evil man, because then there would be no tragedy, but his Lady's prodding only helped him acheive his black and evil desires. I had to say that... emma.

I was recently discussing Shakespeare with a friend at work, and he told me there was a curse on the play "Macbeth". It is very interesting and something I have not seen here. It seems that some actors will not repeat the name because of the curse. If the name is repeated inside a theatre, it is thought to cause accidents and mishaps, claiming the lives of many actors over the years, since the play was first presented in 1603. The curse, seemingly brought on by the witch's incantations, that Shakespeare was said to have known were actual spells, have caused everything from equipment mishaps to the deaths of actors and actresses in car accidents and illnesses. This ia a very interesting piece of Shakespeareian history, and worth mentioning in your theme papers. Most likely to raise an eyebrow or two. For more info go to www.dogpile.com type curse+macbeth into the search box and hit fetch.

My friend found another macbeth page that didn't have as much helpful information on it and she actually had to pay. I am writing a thesis about the connection between Lear's Fool and Macbeth's Porter. However, going through numerous books, I just recently found out that the character of Porter was not very popular. In fact, it was completely cut from many productions, and people don't like to talk about him. To make the long story short, if anyone can help me with references regarding this character, I will be eternally gratefull. please reply to my e-mail address. thank you.

I am a huge fan of Shakespeare, and MacBeth! My favorite part of all the play is scene 2 act 2. Were Macbeth is talking after the murder to his wife, and he says, "Methought I heard a voice cry." You put "I thought" The right way is "Methought." Thanks...

How could anyone ask if there is a sequel to Macbeth? The play is brilliant in itself. I think it is the most straightforward Shakespearian plays there is. It is even easy enough for my students in a Dutch school to follow.

The play deserves a 9/10!!

Last year I let a pregnant stray cat into the office to have her kittens. 5 days after she did, on 2/6/98, the office was destroyed by a fire started by a water cooler in the office next door. I went in and rescued the cat and her kittens, but we lost everything else in the process. The rescue made the front page of a couple newspapers then, but everybody was laid off 8 days before Christmas except one Vo-Tech/Rehab guy and myself. We've been getting lied to and stonewalled by the companies responsible (Oasis Manufacturing, Chubb Insurance and Coca-Cola Bottling) for over a year. While they're passing the buck amongst one another, we're going out of business and losing our jobs. This is the only place I know to turn. Please take a look at our site and write or call those companies with your opinion. We only want your e-mail and vocal support - NOTHING ELSE! The only people who owe us anything are the ones who are destroying our business and our jobs. When our business was burning, the number one priority in my life was saving those kittens, but now we need your help to save our jobs. Please help! Al November told us to refer to your site as to what students are capable of doing, when he gave a presentation to our school yesterday. It's incredible! How long did it take how many of you to do? What class did you do it for? What were the parameters of the assignment? What did you add (besides the bells and whistles of the actual web site) that was above and beyond the requirements for the assignment? I would appreciate anything you can tell me about this as I have four students interested in setting up a site for Medea. Thanks for your help. Again, incredible job! A real WOW! Lori Dunn-Reier

I am currently teaching Macbeth to nonreaders and of course the audio tape broke down before we even got through Act I. I cannot bear the thought of just watching the play. HELP! If anyone knows of a great, affordable audio tape that I can add to my Macbeth portfolio, please send the title and cost. I'll be purchasing for my classroom use only. Furthermore I recommend to other teachers the Charles & Mary Lamb Illustrated Tales of Shakespeare for students who won't possibly get the play any other way. I have allowed students to use it only after we have read the actual text and it seems to help.

Hi there! This is the best site on Macbeth I've seen so far. I am 16 years old, and have studied Macbeth for 3 years now. Without a doubt in my mind, this is Macbeth's finest play. I read Macbeth twice a week, and each time, I find a very allusion, irony, and metaphors. I think schools should concentrate more on the classics. They are much better in a sense that you can learn about numerous literary devices, setting, and characterization. Well, gotta go and check out the multimedia section of this site. Bye!

I just want to say that Macbeth is truly a great story. Shakespeare is truly a very gifted writer. All of his works are wonderful. My favorite is Romeo and Juliet. That is truly a wonderful piece of writing. I wish that everybody could appreciate the writings of Shakespeare. This is a really neat website. It lets people see what kind of rude and crude idiots are in the world. It lets me see that people can be so ignorant to literature. Some of these people need to grow up and get an education. That's all that I have to say. Thank you for letting me speak my mind.

This book was a really great book. I love all of Shakespeare's works. My favorite is Romeo and Juliet. Macbeth is truly one of the greatest works of Shakespeare. Whoever doesn't appreciate this kind of literature has to be a total loser.

I think this is great! I have to memorize the Tomorrow speech for my Senior Exam. I just don't seem to understand how we think Shakespeare's writings mean so much,. What I mean is that did he really plan to have this much meaning in his plays, or was he just writing for the entertainment of his audiences. Did he really expect Scholars to examine his work and find his true meaning, no one really know what his true intentions were, only what they have been taught by their teachers and so this is what they teach us, but is any of this really true?

for an essay dealing with Macbeth's soul, show he has the power to do good yet CHOOSES to do evil. You should take into consideration the tragic hero image (has potential to be great king, won battle, saved Scotland) and the whole concept on tragedy in whole (go through the four stages of dramatic buildup of Macbeth, Macbeth's great moral battle between evil and good, Macbeth's moral deteration, and the point out the terms of how Macbeth needs to be revived). The concept should also include the evironment and the unknown factor, fate!!!

Does anyone see a connection between the fall of Lucifer (God's highest angel who wanted to be equal to God-Lucifer was the "fallen angel" who became Satan) a the tragedy of Macbeth. Lucifer's story isn't in the Bible but it could be a cool essay!

Hey everybody, this is the Shontsdogg diligently gathering information on Shakespeare's MacBeth, for his senior honors English paper. This is the best looking web site for the info I'm looking for. I've already raided every library I can get my grubby hands on, and have found little to none of the info I'm looking for. So here I am , begging for any help I can get. This is my magnificent thesis that I need your help to prove(I'm begging here, boys). Thesis: Shakespeare grandly employs the irony of half-truths and half-lies to create an atmosphere of suspense and chaos. I think it's a pretty swift thesis, any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks Dave
